Open RAN: Is it Destined to be Closed?

Open RAN (O-RAN) promises wireless network providers a means to free themselves from siloed hardware as they build out their 5G networks. Using Open RAN, carriers can select the best available hardware from a mix of vendors. However, it is becoming apparent that competitive forces are shaping Open RAN into a platform that's not as open as some may have hoped.
